Color Graded Footage

Hey Guys,
I took out my Z1 last weekend to do a couple of test shots
with our self build dolly to achieve different kinds of cinematic look.
There is no deeper intention to it. So the clips dont have any special
order.
Editing was done in Premiere Pro and Color Correction done with Magic Bullet.

I´m pretty pleased with the results:

Very nice. Can you share your encoding settings.

Benni Katz February 12th, 2008 03:43 AM

Thx, Victor
Basically I took the H.264 Format with HDTV 720p High Quality preset
in the Premiere Pro CS 3 Media Encoder and changed the framerate.
Here a short summary:
1280 x 720
25 fps
Par:16:9
Profile: Main
Level: 3,2

Bitrate: VBR, 2Pass (already read that there are no visible differences between 1 and 2 pass but 1 pass always produces green frames)

6 Mbit
Max 10 Mbit

Nice shots that make it clear, with the proper camera technique, cinematic look can be achieved! I love the depth of field.

But what's the deal with the low frame rate? Seems to me it's only about 5, maybe 10 frames per minute. Is that a Vimeo thing? I have 8 Mbps Comcast cable, so download speed is not the issue.

Hm sounds weird...
On my pc it runs very well.
Also uploaded a 720p Version to Rapidshare. This one should work:

its about 105 MB

Did you guys use Colorista or something from the look suite?

If you used Colorista, did every time you drop the filter onto a clip did it automatically change everything to broadcast safe?

Benjamin, I've used the Z1U and FX1 before, and you've definitely pushed it to it's max. It's great to see 1/3" HDV camera's prove (or I should say, the shooter prove) how good the image actually can be in the end. Wonderful stuff, the music is a great choice too.

By the way, I own a 35mm adapter and lenses and I too would have sworn you were shooting with a 35mm adapter too had you not told us you were shooting stock!
