Charging camera batteries . . .

How do most of you charge your Sony (or non Sony) lithium ion batteries?

I ask because some makers of lithium ion batties suggest storing with a full charge. Sony, in any of their camera manuals, says to store the batteries in a fully depleated state. They even say that a battery not used for awhile should be charged up and then depleated for storage! Why not just let it stay in an empty state and then charge when needed? Sony does suggest that the proper charging "rituals" help keep info lithium time remaining indications, etc. working properly.

Any thoughts or charging would be helpful.

battery care

Whilst it's not the best storage method, to be honest, I usually have them (and like you they being Sony ones) fully charged all the time for those moments when I "might" need them.

More info within the link about battery care recommendations in general and in highly detailed specifics which might be worth you reading.

Lithium Ion batteries loose capacity over time. The higher the state of charge they are stored at, the more unrecoverable capacity loss. Many Li Ion manufacturer's recommend storage at ~ 30% state of charge for this reason.

If you are using the batteries on a regular basis, don't worry about it. If you won't be using them for an extended period of time (months), store them at a low state of charge.
