The Z1's lens hood

There's probably a few of you out there that do weddings and events like me, and do them in less than perfect lighting. When I'm working I carry my wide-angle adapter with me in a belt-pouch and often need to remove the Z1's hood and bayonet on the wide converter in as few seconds as possible. While I'm fiddling, life goes on.

Don't know about you but I find the Z1's hood difficult to attach to the zoom lens when the light's poor - you have to align a small raised line on the hood with a similar line on top of the lens, then twist to bayonet on. You must first of all make sure the hood's the right way up in the process.

Enough. What I've done is this - I've simply 'highlighted' these two raised alignment indicators by sticking thin lengths of fluorescent orange tape along them. Same on my wide converter's bayonet. Now whatever the lighting conditions I simply align the two orange lines and twist. Simple, quick, secure.

That's a very useful idea, Tom. Thanks for sharing!
