Damaged lens replacement on FX1

I have a spot on the lens of one of my FX1s that we can not get rid of when we clean the lens. I am worried that it is a scuff in the lens coating or surface. Is there a way to replace the factory lens? Are there any aftermarket improvements or should it go direct to Sony for repair?

I am open to any and all suggestions here.

Thanks!

Bill

Sounds like you will need to go to Sony for this. There have been various other discussions of dirt inside the lens, etc. and people are always told it's a sealed unit which is not serviceable - they have to swap out the whole module. But maybe some independent place has found a way to do this now?

You can see what's inside here, but I wouldn't suggest trying to do this yourself! SONY HDR-FX1 Camcorder Service
