See HDR-FX1 and HVR-Z1 Feature Set Comparison. It's very early and of course very subject to change.

Cineframe in FX1

Chris, I believe NTSC FX1 will have cineframe 24, cineframe 30...

two sources:

official sonystyle.ca:

http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...ductId=1000282

reference is made at bottom to "cineframe" although 30 vs 24 not specified - same under "specs" tab - buried in camera specs.

more importantly:
posts by Japanese consumer who bought FX1 (NTSC)in Japan on Oct. 15:

excerpt from his post in which he responds to queries re: cineframe mode:

"1) Have you noticed any reduction in resolution or sharpness when in CineFrame mode?

I cannot see any reduction with my eyes. but maybe YES, maybe a llitle. Maybe.

2) Can you control exposure manually in CineFrame mode?

Yes, I can. CineFrame is one of the picture profile(PP) functions.
PP functions include;
1)deepness of color(from -7 to +7)
2)hue(from -7 to +7)
3)sharpness(from 0 to 15. default is 11)
4)skin detail(off,type1,type2,type3)
5)AE shift(from -7 to +7)
6)AGC limit(off,12dB,6dB,0dB)
7)auto iris limit(F11,F6.8,F4)
8)WB shift(from -7 to +7)
9)AWB sensitivity(high,mid,low)
10)cinema tone gamma(on,off)
11)cine frame (30,24,off)"

Mark,

I asked that question, thanks for piping it through

Earlier in the thread Kurihara reports an increase in picture noise when CineFrame is engaged, which to my mind indicates a lifting of the dual pixel readout (some call this line pair summation)

Also I interpret the loss in detail due to a Cinema softening rather than resolution loss, even Kurihara is in two minds about it, which means it is not strikingly obvious

This is encouraging for CineFrame25, which won't be dropping fields.
