CF25 HDV>DV possible?

I think the answer to this is probably yes, but is it possible to record in CF25 HDV (or CF30 on an NTSC camera) and then have it capture to your NLE as a standard DV stream? I was quite impressed with the 1080i>480i footage that was shown here:

So I was curious to know if capturing in CF25 and then editing in standard DV might be a possible workflow. Several people have stated that CF25 might be the best way to record images if you want to make narrative films with a "filmlook" and all the stuff that comes with that line of production.

It's 100% possible to capture HDV clips as DV mode. The camera does downsampling internally, so you can output HDV on the firewire as standard DV.

Agreed, it works fine. You'll need to tell your NLE that the footage is progressive (i.e., set field order to "progressive") otherwise it will probably interpret it as interlaced. Unless the camera marks the headers properly, which I have not tested.
