Can it be used?

Guys,
can the FX1 or the Z1 be used to shoot a feature? I mean with proper set-ups,careful shooting, proper lighting, good camera stabilizators and good post production can we achive good film like resulted HD video which doesnt look like a interview shot but more looks like a feature????

In my opinion there's no reason why any camcorder can't be used to shoot a feature. It's been done with Hi-8. It's been done with DV. It's been done with just about everything under the sun.

The most successful video-shot feature in history was shot on a little RCA hi-8 camera (the Blair Witch project, of course). Open Water just got theatrical release and it was shot on a PD150, I believe.

It could be used, yes. Are you asking will it look as if it was shot on film? The answer is no, it'll look like it was shot on video. You could use a program like Magic Bullet, Graeme Nattress' filmlook plug-in for FCP, or Marcus Van Bavel's DVFilm Maker software to convert the images so that they look more like film.

PD-150 and VX2000 (Open Water).

I hope to use either the FX1 or the Z1 for my next film 9:04 AM that Jon Fordham is DP-ing.
