Help! Can't mount my microphone on the Z1U

I just got an Audio Technika AT835ST microphone for my Z1U.

BUT it won't fit the hole! Its too narrow for the hole! It wiggles!

So what now? I don't really want to mount it on the shoe, since I will be using that for a light.

So please help!

Anyone here using this microphone on a Z1U?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem but it can be solved by wrapping some foam around the mic inside the holder.

I cut a strip of foarm and wrapped around also. Works fine. (AT897)

Thanks guys, I guess I will have to test my DIY skills...

But isn't there some pre-made adapter out there?

Jerry Waters April 8th, 2005 08:22 AM

Someone does - for $330.

Foam is cheaper

Hi!

had the same problem with the $500 Sennheiser B&H sold me with the Z1. When I asked if they sold a product that helped pad the mic., they said no, use electrical tape. Oh well...

Cheers!

Get a piece of bicycle inner tube....works like a charm.

Good advice ... I knew I should have kept those tubes around for something!

Thanks!

I've temporarily been using elastic bands wrapped around the barrel of the A-T. A piece of inner tube would look much more elegant.

Thanks for the tip.

Maybe we should buy one and cut it up at NAB (and if Spot doesn't share all the new secret stuff we could shoot him with the bands).
