Two heads are better than one...what's a good second monitor?
Well it's clear that if I'm going to edit effciently, I'll need a second monitor. I currently have a 21" CRT, which is great, but it'd be nice to move the timeline and other tools to a second monitor. Any suggestions?

I recommend matching LCDs or if you have the room, matching CRTs. Don't have two different monitors.

It's not a big deal to have mismatching monitors as long as you know their primary uses will be different. If you have a good CRT and a good LCD, put the timeline on the LCD, as the CRT will have better dynamic range and greater contrast consistency over the range of viewing angles.
I haven't bought a monitor in a while, but that may be because I bought the right ones the first time: ViewSonics. If you'll only be using your new monitor for timelines and controls, go with whatever old cheap monitor your retailer has on special. Fairly good new monitors go for between $150-$300. |
Once again...many thanks for the advice!
