FX1/mini35/Vegas6 workflow?

hi, ill be shooting a music video this weekend and i still trying to sort somethings out, im new to the fx1 and im new to vegas software, so here are my quetions:

1- ive decided to shoot 60i HDV, but the final outout will be betacam sp. so what is best to do capture .mt2 files and use a plugin like gearshift or just do the downconvertion to DV from the camera i.link convertion and edit in DV?

2- i really like the deinterlacing to 24p from vegas , but my output has to be 4:3
letterbox , how should i set the workflow in vegas? should i use the NTSC DV 24p template , or the NTSC DV widescreen 24p? what about the files do i just drop the 60i footage on to the timeline and edit as normal or should i render the footage first and then edit?

3-this is my biggest doubt, how do i get the final 24p dv edited footage to the DV tape again if the fx1 is an intelaced camera? do i need a deck of some sort to get the final 24p product to dv tape how do i make it to be 30fps but with the look of 24p ? i know how to make a dvd out of this 24p timeline but im not sure if somebody can make a good transfer from dvd to bata sp, so if somebody knows what do ineed to do to provide for a good transfer to beta sp from a 24p fx1 dv timeline in vegas please it ll be great.

thanks to all

For best quality, bring the footage into Vegas in HDV, then use the HDV on a DV timeline, or yes, use a tool like GearShift to make the proxies.

You can do the widescreen to 4:3 in Vegas much better than the camera can.

Once you've gone to 24p, you no longer have a print back to tape option. But you'll be wanting to deliver in 24p on a DVD, won't you?

thank for your reply, i have downloaded the trial of gearshift to see how it works , and i have one question about it , it seems tha this plug in can create many types of dv proxys which one should i use? here is my current settings:

Vegas 6.0

TEMPLATE: NTSC DV 24p (720x480, 23.976 fps)
Captured .mt2 files @ 60i 1/60th

my desired output: 24p look with 30p DV 4:3 Letterbox .avi and 24p DVD 4:3 Letterbox

another questions are there any transfer house that would accept 720-24p 4:2:2 YUV files to transfer it to Beta SP?
