Converting Z1u 60i to 23.98p

I'm using Finalcut 6 and I need to convert footage shot at 60i on the Z1 to work with all of my 1080p23.98 footage.

Does anyone know the best way to do this software-wise (OSX preferably).

Thanks very much,

Jim

You don't need to convert anything. FCP handles different codecs & frame rates pretty well all by itself & all in real time.

If you already have a 23.98 sequence, just lay the 60i footage down. FCP will convert the footage automatically to match the sequence settings and will play it in real time.

FCP will need to render the 60i footage when you export, but that should be expected.

If that doesn't seem to float your boat, you can always just drag & drop all of your 60i footage into Compressor and export to whatever flavor of 29.98 you desire. Then edit those files instead of the raw 60i files.

Thanks for your help. I did that before on a panning shot and it was oddly jumpy, and at one point I found some software that converted it and the footage was much improved. In both cases I am using FCP6. Maybe it was just a freak situation before and the footage will be fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

if jou want high quality conversion, it is best to use revision twixtor with fieldskit deinterlacer. You can find the method very slow but the most efficient.
