Importing footage form Z1

Hello all - new to this board and my very first thread.

I use FCP5 and a Sony DSR-11 deck - I've just received some footage shoot with the Sony Z1(50i and some 60i) from a client and can't import it because we don't have a HD deck or camera. The client has suggested that they can put the footage on a Hard Drive for us... the problem I see is that the footage will be sent to us as m2t and FCP doesn't recognize the file type.

I'm looking for advice on how I can get m2t into FCP or if I can convert the m2t files into another file type that FCP will read.

Please help me!!! ; )
Thanks in advance - joga

It will only be .m2t if they capture their footage with a PC.

Ensure they capture the footage with a MAC and you're all good. The Apple Intermediate Codec is the best I have found on MAC so far.

they only own PC's... so it'll have to be captured with a PC - so I guess I need to convert it once I receive the Hard Drive with the m2t files - any suggestions what to use to convert the files?

I found this http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html anyone heard/use it before - and what other options do I have?

I have used it to see some of the clips in the net, but never for actual work.
It does look good on an LCD HD screen tho.

A good solution is the QT BlackMagic codec (free) which works on PC and Mac flawlessy. From 8Bit 4.2.2 to 10Bit 4.4.4.
But regardless of which, one has to convert...
