FX1/Green Screen and Film Transfer

Recently I ran a quick film transfer test with the FX1 material. I used some panning shots, shots of the sea, some night exteriors with available light etc.

I also transfered a green screen from very badly lit footage. The green screen shot was purposely done breaking many, if not all rules regarding proper green screen work.

I was astonished to see the images on the 12ft screen at the processing lab showed no (or we were not able to see any) motion artifacts even to eyes of the trained film technicians.

And I was quite happy with the results I got from the green screen shoot.

For your comments.

Maheel Perera

That is an amazing result from an FX1.
I have a couple of inquires since we are deciding on a HD camera to purchase.

What version of the fx1 did you use? ntsc or pal FX1E?

Second is, did you use cinemaframe mode on the green screen shot of the woman?

Third, what keyer did you use to composite?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Ted,

I used the PAL version.

I did not use cineframe. All were shot 50i.

Keyer was AdvantEdge inside After Effects.
