Some miscellaneous FX1 screengrabs

It's been a while since I had any real web-hosting, but that's changed now and I'll be able to provide links for various FX1-shot content including pictures and the like. Some of these may be familiar as I've posted before, but the links are different.

Here is an album of a few FX1 frame grabs. Some may have a little bit of colour correction, all were shot 1080i:

All of the shots in this album were shot CF24:

In motion:

Two quick (still photo) keying tests:

And a visual effects example (shot CF30):

an uncropped, uncorrected frame:

and the final video:

A few miscellaneous shooting notes:
If you're planning on doing a lot of visual effects, shooting in the CF modes is a great way to cut down on the hassle of interlace and reduce compression artifacts. While people are usually informed to "shoot 60i" and "CF modes suck" - by the time you take into account the compression algorithm, you can often end up with better data from a CF30 image than you will from deinterlaced 1080i.

Awesome!

Wow.. very impressive I must say as an owner of an FX1. The blue lighting in your final project looked great!

Well done!

Nice stuff! What programs did you use for editing and effects?

Steven White January 13th, 2006 08:21 AM

Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.1
Cineform's AspectHD
Adobe After Effects 6.5 Professional.

I do most of my colour correction with the Curves filter in 16-bit mode.
