Battery compatibility np-f970
HI,
I bought 2 aftermarket batteries (np-f970) for my sony FX1. Its working good but on the battery, it says 7.4v instead of the 7.2v on the original battery, should i use it anyway , can it damage the camera? And should i get an external charger for it or charge it via the camera. I dont want to break my camera for saving 100$ on batteries. any help will be really appreciated. Thanks |
I wouldnt over volt the camera to be honest.

I've search many possibilities and i found a lot of these in a 7.4v version. I thought maybe it was from the same manufacturer but its not. Almost every different aftermarket model is 7.4v.

I'm checking with a liquidator in the area of Toronto Canada who sells off overstocks & open box kinds of things. He has Sony batteries in lots of 25 for a very cheap price. He's checking to see what he has in stock. I'm interested in original Sony NP-F970 & 770, stocking up my personal supplies to take with me when I move to Australia early Apr.
At the price he's selling them for, even if 50% didn't work, they'ld still be a steal of a deal, but they're supposedly fine, usually packaging issues/returned items/overstocks/bankruptcy liquidations, etc. If you're interested, let me know. I'll try to get back here to post an update if I remember & find this thread again. |
Just be careful with that. There are several posts around here from people who've bought counterfeit Sony batteries. They look like the real thing, but they are not...

I'd rather pay the little extra and get from a proper source then look for the cheapest one. At least I know im getting the real thing.
