Downconversion and Capturing
 

Question, I'm about to get the FX and wanted to know, if you setup for downconversion internally in the cam and output to 1394, should the editing ap be setup for capture in HDV or SD, I think I can answer my own question but wnat to be sure.

If you set downcovert on the firewire connection, yes, you get DV out the firewire port, so your NLE as well.

I don't have a FX1/Z1 yet, and my HD10U won't do HDV to DV down-conversion on the camera, but I would suggest doing the down-conversion on your computer, where you have more control of the process.

With down convert switched on on the FX1, the capture utilities will only be able to detect DV. No chance of capturing HDV.
