FX1 Shoe Adapter - Replacing OEM Adapter

Has anyone replaced their oem adapter. It's a piece of junk, this for sure!

I am making a few adapters. The first will allow me to use my sony 10/20 light(sideways), the other will allow me to use my Frezzi Mini-Fill and shotgun mic at the same time and finally a dual shoe mount.

I will most pictures this week when I am finished.

If you make a dual shoe mount I would pay for one, name your price. It would be handy to mount a mic and LCD at one time. Keep me posted

Hello,

I would be interested also in a dual or better hot shoe .. My FX1 no longer has its shoe..it dissappeared after a long, hectic shoot..

Let us know..

I will post pictures of my new adapter on Monday. I just tested it this weekend at a wedding and it's great. If you would like for me to make one, I will but it's really easy and cheap to make yourself. The only tools required are a drill and a vice. I purchased everything you need from Home Depot and B&H.

It's a multil purpose adapter. During the ceremony I have my wireless and shotgun mic and during the reception I use my wireless mic and frezzi. I also made it so I could use my 10/20 watt sony light.

More to come on Monday. Believe it or not, I don't own a digital still camera. LOL

I will post pictures of the rest tomorrow. The shoe adapters are $7 at b&h and the metal was from home depot for $5(could make a bunch of adapters)

When I am not using the sony light I attach another shoe adapter where it connects to the camera and that gives me two shoe adapters. I will post more pictures. The finished adapter will be painted black to match the camera. It's still in development :)

How does it sound? Wouldn't the shotgun mic up a lot of hum from the light?

Joseph Aurili April 5th, 2006 12:32 PM

I have the same mic and the same light ;)

Did you buy that light cover or make it?

Tomas Chinchilla April 5th, 2006 12:32 PM

What is that on front of your light?

I have the exact same light and I have been trying to find a way to difuse it a bit.

I don't have any problems with the sony light. I haven't tried it with my frezzi mini-fill, which I assume will have problems.

Hi Jon,

It's been a while since anyone has probably read this thread, however recently my shoe for my FX1 lost it's battle with the feet of a 9 year old who though it would be fun to see if it would survive a jumping match!

Anyway, i digress...

The links in your post below are gone - probably for good reason (it's been over 2 years)

Do you have those pics? or the link to the component you bought from B&H?

I need to build / buy one soon - and i am not going to buy one from sony for $77!!

thanks!!

Are you talking about one of these?

If so, the post was still on the front page! :-) Feel free to use the search function :-)

Hope it helps!
