Porta Brace RS-MFZ1 or Petrol PRC-HDV
I talked to Manuel at B&H and he told me that either case would be good protection for a short beach shoot I'm going to to do.
I didn't know if anyone here had either and could give me some pros or cons on either. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation |

Both will work fine---both are a pain in the neck to put on and take off, and both are a little unwieldy. I have never been happy with the covers that they make for smaller cameras. |
Hi There
I recently got the Kata cover, and having owned the Pertol this one is much easier to put on and remove... As David says they are not the easiest of things on small cameras, but I've seen just about all available and this looks the most usable.. Regards Gareth |
Porta Brace/Kata
I have them both. Porta Brace is very good, and as David points out, is a hard to get on. Kata is easier to put on a Z1 and packs better (flatter).

Both KATA and Portabrace or the Petrol? |
Portabrace/Kata
Sorry, it has been that kind of week. Have the PortaBrace, used it in the rain and it was just fine. Hard to get on and off. Kata seems to be more user friendly and cheaper ($84 vs. about $160 for the PortaBrace). Have not used it in the wet, as yet. Do not have the Petrol.
