My partner is considering buying a FX1E (PAL) and running it's 50i footage through either dvfilmmaker or fieldskit from RevisionFX for a 25P look. I'm concerned about heinous render times. If you are using this camera or a Z1 (PAL mode) in this way could you please post some render times. One minute = x amount of hours using a x processor, type of thing.

Please don't tell me to do a search. I've done it. And please let's not get into a Cineframe 25 discussion. Thanks.

CineFrame 25, whether you want to talk about it or not, is very nice. We shot a short horror film in 50i/CF25 on the Z1 and it was much easier, once we made an uncompressed HD QuickTime movie in Final Cut Pro, changing it to 24p was easy.

Even if you don't go 24p, you're not having to do an extra step to get from 50i to 25p. Though CF25 isn't true 25p, it's very similar. Check this out:

When you change 25 to 24P do you get an exaggerated motion blur from the 4% slowdown? I've seen this in PAL video transfered to film and I always wondered if it's just a bad transfer or unavoidable?

My understanding, which is what Adam Wilt says, is that Cineframe throws away a field and doubles the other, degrading vertical resolution and leaving you with "jaggies". In SD maybe it isn't so noticable but what is the point in having an HD camera and shooting SD resolution, I might as well buy a DVX. I was hoping with a smart de-interlacer like DVFilmmaker to get better quality. Magic Bullet is the best but I read somewhere it would take a week to render a ten minute film.

Hasn't ANYONE used DVFilmaker on PAL HDV?

I'm trying to get my partner to wait for a AVCHD Z2 or AVCHD DVX but who knows how long the wait will be? Everyone says technology moves so fast but I want HD without artifacts recorded to an affordable media - and it's a long slow wait.

I use DVfilm on my FX1e 50i projects, it looks great! The rendering time is far quicker than having to render an entire timeline in Premiere Pro. I go from 50i>25p>24p and the motion is as good as HDV gets. The resolution you end up with must be about the same if not beter in still places than the pana HVX200/202.
