Shooting with 24fps - is it noticeable the loss of resolution?
 

I need to shoot a high def video - but I have been doing some reading and found out that if I use Sony's 24 cine-movie look, I will be losing alot of definition for the video.
Now, the video is going to be shown on a TV and or a High Def projector. Do you think the 24 cine-movie look loss of resolution will be negligible under these conditions?

you loose 50% percent your vertical resolution. When I switched back and forth on a 56 inch HDTV you could tell something was changing but it wont look like garbage.

Thanks. I guess the same will apply for a high def projector. I guess my options are using Magic Bullet or something to drop it to progressive 24p?

I like shooting in 60i and using software to go to 24p or shooting in 50i (with CineFrame 25 active) and converting to 24p.

^^ you say shoot in 50i to get the Cineframe 25 mode. Does the HDRFX1 give you the option to shoot in PAL or NTSC?

and if you shoot at 50i, how do you master that to a DVD when the video is finished, do north american dvd players play 50i video?

Usually ... but most TV's can't handle the signal they output.

Some players will convert PAL footage to NTSC, but the players that most North Americans have don't do this.

And by the way, I recall several tests of cineframe on resolution charts posted on this forum and elsewhere that suggest the resolution loss is about 35-40%, rather than 50%.

If you shoot interlaced and use a "smart" deinterlacer in post you can do even better.

No. This is only a function of the Z1u.

What do you find is the best program for converting 60i shot on the FX1 to 24p? What about de interlacing?
Btw, I saw a short you did featuring Christy Slavis (Three sisters?). Really well done.
