FX1 mountable light
 

i need a portable light that will fit the fx1. i would like it to take a fx1 battery as i know that this is possible as i have seen one before but i dont recall where. if you have any links or know where i can get one that would be great.

also the reason i need this light is for nightclub work. filming dancers etc. (what a hard life)

Canon makes a nice little 10 watt light that slides into the shoe.When I use it, I keep a piece of diffusion paper over the light. It uses Canon batteries, but you can get off brand canon batts cheap on the net.
For heavy work, I use a Frezzi 50 watt mini fill witha softbox and Anton Bauer battery(mainly on my Canon H1). I've rigged it on my FX1 with a plate underneath, velcro and bungy chord. It's also an expensive set up.

Thanks just what im after. i only really need the light for about an hour during the course of the night and also if i need to charge it then i have the option as i have a little work area. pretty good.

I think 10W might be too poor for actual lighting. Perhaps as an eye-light or dim fill only.

I have fX1. Here is link to Sony dual lite I just got. It has switch to select one or two lamps being on. Uses same batteries as camera.

I do note that when I use the 330 battery, only one lamp will work. Not sure if that is by design or what.

when's that sweet sony lcd light comming out? I was announced along with the fx7 and v1.

fyi - the led light from Sony, and the other varieties, are great for close-ups or nicely-lit areas. For dark environments, such as receptions, the dropoff is at 4-5 feet at which you'll have about 10-20% coverage - a halogen is much better for this scenario. I have a previous post about the lights and have demoed and tested LitePanels, VidLED, Varizoom, ZiLight, and the Sony. If you want more info let me know.

Hi Marshall, is the Sony LED light a daylight equivalent light or is it 3200K? Also what is the maximum output on it as compare to a halogen light, any info on that would be greatly appreciated.

I honestly have to check the light equivalent as I don't know offhand (I get these things confused all the time actually).

I can tell you that the apparent output is 35W and that's according to Sony, but that's at about 4 feet or so.

Does anyone know if these Sony LED and Sony Halogen lights work with non-original Sony batteries?

Yes, they all work with non-OEM batteries (pretty much all I have).

If the camera does, I don't see why they would not.
