Sony Shoulder Strap for FX-1000?
 

Got my Son HDR FX-1000 from B&H without a shoulder Strap... Everybody else advertises a strap as a supplied accessory... Anyone know why B&H's version does not include it?

Also don't see one advertised as an accessory anywhere, can anybody help?

Well, I got my FX1000 directly from Sony...never saw any mention of a shoulder strap, and didn't receive one either. Who else mentioned one?

The shoulder strap is optional and not included. Pages 16, 125 of your manual.

Interestingly, the Sony website for the product, like all the vendors selling this, does say the shoulder strap is included even though the manual says it is not.

B&H most certainly did not reach into the box and remove the strap; it's just your typical Sony screwup of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. You might be able to call or write Sony and convince them to send you one, as their sales material on their own website says it should be included. Otherwise, you can find a bunch of them here:

Strap issue
 

I followed up and checked the web site and nothing on there convinces me that this particular strap is strong enough to support the weight of the FX-1000.. So be careful... (I have two straps from previous smaller Sony Camcorders and wont trust them with this new camera..)

also: I followed up with Sony Customer suppport (a kind gentleman in the Philipines--Midnight his time) to pass along this minor issue.. and point out that his own web site (Sony Style USA) shows it as a supplied accessory.

The used manual only shows how to properly attach it, but does not list it as supplied.

Yeah, I can't imagine using any kind of shoulder strap on that cam for any reason. But some peoople like them, I guess.

Had the opportunity to visit the B&H Store in NYC today and bought a Port-Brace Strap HB12DVCAM... $34.95. It's one heavy duty sucka; at the recommendation of a sales assistant..

I'm be using my cam as tourist and will have use for it.. Combine it with a heavy duty monopod cane to ward off attackers. :)
