60i not showing as 60fps?

Hi,
I have a Sony z5u with the memory recording unit set up as:

Rec Format: HDV 1080i
HDV PROGRE.: Interlace, ScanType: 60

When I record a short clip, I used MediaInfo to look at the file and got:
Why is the Frame Rate at 29.970??

I also brought the file into Sony Vegas, did a match properties on it and got the
HDV 1080-60i(144x1090, 29.970) template. Frame rate set as 29.970 (of course I can change this)

In CS5.5 AE, it says
1440x1080 (1.33),Separating(Upper)
29.97 fps

Should I just ignore and overwrite the 29.970 to 60?

Thanks

Re: 60i not showing as 60fps?

It is 29.97 frames per second, not 60... It has 60 (well 59.94) FIELDS per second, and 2 fields make up one FRAME. This is because it's interlaced video.

Re: 60i not showing as 60fps?

60p is usually related to footage shot with 1280x720@60p..
