LCD Hood

Can anyone recommend a good LCD hood for the Z7? I have the Petrol PMH-3 for 3.5" screens and it is a too big.

I use the Sony SHL-35WBP LCD Hood on my V1U and like it alot. It clips on very easily and securely. It also folds open/closed very easily too. A very nice hood in my opinion.

(The attachment arms are spring-loaded in order to grip onto the LCD housing. So, if the Z7's is roughly the same dimmensions it should work.)

In which ways do you feel yours is "too big"? Too wide, too long, or too tall?

Here's the one B&H says is specifically for the Z7. It appears to be a bit smaller...

Thanks I'll probably get the Sony hood if I can't find a good one that is a cheaper. The Petrol hood is less than 1/3 the cost.
The Petrol hood I purchased is longer than the entire LCD panel leaving a gap. For a short time this was the one that B&H listed as a suggested accessory for the Z7 , so I bought it.
The hood fits fine on the EX-1 which is a 3.5" panel.

Hello,

If you have a HVR-Z7, DON'T consider the Sony SHL-35WBP. This LCD shade works great with the HVR-V1, but doesn't work at all with the new Z7. When I upgraded to the Z7, I needed to use the new SH-L35WBP instead. The way that the two Sony hoods fit is different, based on the different designs of the camcorders. I tried to get the older hood to fit the new Z7's and it doesn't work. You will definately need to look for the SHL-35WBP for your Z7.
