With that setup, is your only control of the camera transport through the lanc controller?

Yes but just for start stop of recording all zoom, apperture and focusing is done manual.

There is always a REC button on the top of the handle. I wish Sony had added one more REC button on the side. The one on the top becomes hard to reach when the camera is mounted upside down.

Doh! of course I forgot to mention that the top of the camera has a rec switch as the lens one has been removed.

Yes just put the tapa mount on and fit your Nikkor lens.

Around £220 inc vat and delivery and I got mine from e-bay:

the big difference for the Red, Letus, etc. etc. is that those use 35mm lenses & keep the FOV (field of view) the same as 35mm. the stock lens on the Z7/S270 is a 4.4mm to 52.8mm.

on 1/3" chips (ie Z1/Z7/S270 plus many many more cameras), 52.8mm is a telephoto lens (read FOV). 50mm on a "35mm chip" (35mm negative) is a normal lens (FOV).

more or less you'll be 7x more zoomed in on your subject if you put a 100mm lens on the MTF (Tapa) adapter than if you put that same lens onto the Red/Letus

ALSO check out http://www.mtfservices.com/ for the home page of the Tapa adapter
