Z5's pricing is out..

I have no idea where to plug this thread so.. I found this on the web and the price is USD4800 region. The price is similar to Z1 when it was launched in my part of the world.

I'm not sure I understand Sony's pricing strategy with regard to the Z5 and Z7. The Z5 costs almost as much as the Z7, but it doesn't include the CF recording unit (or feature interchangeable lenses). It seems like the Z5 should be closer to $4k.

That's why I bought the z7 instead of waiting for the z5 price wise.

Nothing on B & H yet about the Z5. If the $4900 is correct, I think I would go with the Z7.

Apparently the US MSRP of the Z5U will be $4950.

I think street price will be around $4200. But I don't think it comes with the HVR-MRC1K unit. That is $940 mslp more.

I agree Keith the pricing will be about $800.00 off retail at B&H it was close to that when a purchased my V1u, Z7u, and EX1's
The HVR-MRC1K does not come with the Z5.

I got a new B & H catalog yesterday and the first thing I looked for was a listing for the Z5. They did have the FX1000 and Z5 listed but no prices. The funny thing is that they had the Z5 listed with the Z1 and both were under the title of 1/3" 3-chip CCD cameras. ???? But in the "improvements" section, they said the Z5 had 3 1/3" CMOS chips and a 20x zoom. See, CMOS is an "improvement" over CCD's. B & H said so. Ironically, they had a bigger write up on the Z7 in the catalog.

The Z5 finally made it onto the B & H web site. And the price is...... Drum roll please......

$4299.00.

They had a link that said "Add to cart for a lower price" but when you click on the link, it only displays a $ sign and says it is not available at this time.

B&H now accepts orders, and after you add the unit to the cart the price is $4199...

The Z7 is now $5100 (at B & H) and comes with the $840 CF unit. For $60 more you get the Z7 but if you want the 20x lens and do not need interchangeable lenses then the Z5.
