Question For Z7U Nikkon Adaptor users

Hi there,

I recently acquired a Nikkon adaptor for my Z7U so I could attach a Nikkor 80-200mm long lens to it.

One thing that I noticed is that, once attached, if I grip the end of the long lens and try to rotate it while it is supposedly fixed it moves ever so slightly. In other words it rotates just a tiny little bit. It is a very small movement--maybe a millimeter or a fraction of a milimeter--but it bugs the hell out of me because I know that since I'm using a long lens the image will be sensitive to even slightest movement, so I want that lens to be solidly fixed in position, just like the Zeiss lens that comes with the camera is.

It appears that the Mike Tapa adaptor attaches solidly to the camera and does not move one bit. It is when I attach the lens to the adaptor that the lens moves that itty tinny tiny bit.

Is this normal? Have those of you who use a similar configuration with this adaptor experienced the same? Is this a limitation of this configuration or should I be returning the adaptor and exchanging it?

Hope the problem makes sense as described!

Thanks!

Hello Raul, as long as it seats flat and there is no clearence issues the tiny rotation is not an issue.

Double check focus wide open at corners and tell us how everything looks.

Hi Raul,

I am using the same configuration and know what you are talking about. I can't see any effect to this issue and I get excellent results with this adapter and Nikon lenses.

Cheers,

Hi Steve and Ofer, thanks for your replies!

I tested the tiny rotation for focus change, to see if the focus would be affected, but the tiny rotation does not appear to affect the image.

Obviously I won't be rotating the lens like that when shooting, but I've noticed how sensitive it is to any touch or move of the tripod and was wondering if this would be an issue down the line.

Well, now I can enjoy happy shooting and not worry about whether I should be returning any of my gear!

Thanks again for your replies and for helping a new member of the z7u-nikkon club!

Raul
