Recording Lamp

Silly Question - I record to my MRU and I have switched of my Front & Rear recording lamps. via the Z7E Menu,I can only get them back on when I insert a Tape for recording to the MRU I don't know if this is correct?

I would happily leave in the Tape for the odd time I would need to use my front lamp, But when I do have a Tape inserted I lose the Time Code from the MRU on my LCD. Am I doing something wrong?

Any help is most appreciated.

Hi, James . . .

I have two Z7U's, and both operate the same as yours do. I wonder if Sony even knows that the tally lights don't work with the MRU -- it's kind of strange that they don't light up. I doesn't bother me, since I mostly like them off anyway. I also can't monitor the time code when a tape is in the camera, when I'm only recording to CF via the MRU.

So, from my experiences with BOTH cameras -- this seems to be the way it works.

Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply at least I am not alone, I thought I was doing something wrong. The lights aren't an issue for me either I just thought what if I wanted them on and I was doing something wrong.

Thanks again.
