Sony Z7 and FCP
 

Would like to know if anyone has had a problem with their Mac and FCP recognizing their Sony Z7?

I just bought a Mac for the first time and trying to import my Mini DV tape footage from the Z7 to FCP. I checked all my connections and watched some online tutorials since I am new to the format, but it hasn't worked.

When I refresh the AV devices it only finds my webcam. Any clues out there?

Hey, When I use the Z7 I just go to the Easy Setup I choose HDV setup. I select what ever format I shot in usually HDV 24p or HDV 30p. I make sure the camera is hooked up firewire and is on before I choose the Easy Setup. IF that doest work I would suggest you dumping system preferences for FCP in Library, Preference and delete com.apple.regfinalcutpro.plist.

oh I am guessing you are shooting HDV if not you will have to select NTSC DV for your capturing preset.

Thanks Jason, although I am still learning the Mac format and not sure where "Easy Setup" would be. I am shooting in PAL, HD 50i but I am sure the Mac will find that and have the settings in FCP.
