Render in 8 bit or 10 bit

Since acquired my EA50 and so many more pixels than my Z1, my machine now wants to render my timeline in 10 bit which is taking an age. Can anyone offer some technical advice as to what difference 10 bit render over 8 makes if your final output is a wedding on DVD or Blu-ray. Many thanks.

Re: Render in 8 bit or 10 bit

Your source is 8 bit AVCHD there is no need to render in anything other than 8 bit. Some effects may benefit from higher bit rates for the effects rendering only that help with rounding errors in the mathematics but end up as 8 bit after calculations. NLE's like Vegas can do this at 32bit depth.
