I was encoding a bunch of files from HD out to SD. One of the files failed to encode properly, several times. I remembered a post from Chris about having this issue once in a rare while. He speculated it is a bad wrapper on the front end of the file because trimming the front end of the clip fixes it.

I trimmed a small piece off the front end of the clip and it encoded perfectly. Thank You Chris!!!

Re: Saved by a Post from Chris

Hi Steve

That cos I'm a genius!! Yeah right!!! I strugged for ages on my clip!! I eventually figured by watching the frame count during rendering where it froze up and by that hit and miss method I could determine roughly where the render stopped in seconds from the start.

I'm glad you sorted it out ...I have only ever had one ...on Realty work I don't preroll but at weddings I definately start the camera earlier so if there is a glitch I can simply trim it out ...I can always reshoot a Realty shoot clip but not a wedding!!

If anyone else has weird issues please don't be shy to post your problem (and solution) as it can help others

I don't understand.

Does this ALWAYS happen?

I haven't encountered it (yet) and touchwood I don't.

I rendered 50 clips this week. It only happened to one.

Hi James

Never on wedding footage and just one on Realty footage ..I do around 20 shoots a month for Realty and around 16 clips per shoot so that's a fair amount of clips ... It also might have been a bad copy to the drive as well. I wouldn't worry too much about it!!
