50p - last entry

Okay, I hope this is my last entry on the matter and that I can now get down to what I'm good at: the creative stuff. I have now shot some footage in 50p and experimented with slowing it down at it does look the business, particularly when you change from 50% speed to 100 and back again. Just wanted to check my workflow:

1. shoot 50p and edit the sequence in a 50p timeline in FCP.
2. Export quicktime file as per the settings on the timeline.
3. Import the quicktime file back into FCP and drop onto a 25p timeline and render.
4. Export again as per the settings on the 25p timeline.
5. Take this file into compressor and prepare for DVD creation in FCP.
6. Take this file into Handbrake for MP4 creation.
7. For blu ray, share from the 25p FCP timeline as a Blu ray.

I am sure there are other ways, but all three results, DVD, Blu ray and MP4 all look sound (particularly the blu ray).

Hopefully this process gets a tick from all of the technical geniuses amongst you and I now look forward to creating some breathtaking images for my clients. As Daft Punk say, perhaps it time to get lucky!

Re: 50p - last entry

If I shoot in 50p I edit in a 25p timeline in edius and export the final master in 25p for further handling in tmpgenc authoringworks to make the dvd's or blu-ray and handbrake to create files for vimeo.
To my eye the dvd and blu-ray looks good.
