EA50 and Lighting

I found these 312 Ultra LED lights to be very useful with my EA50. The best thing about them is they have the same rechargeable battery as the EA. I bought 3 of these lights to help with dim receptions for me and my wife who's a Photographer.

Just so happen that the last two I ordered were open box for a reduced cost and they came different than what I thought I was ordering. The 320 Dimmable LED Lights came in there place. i contacted the seller and they are refunding me a partial payment and I get to keep the lights. I can deal with that since i only paid $74 to start with and they are $109 new.

I pull out a light stand and screw these bad babies on it and adjust the light for what i need. I can also use the cold shoe and mount them on the EA and go around the dance floor.

Those look neat Aaron

I tend to use the ones that have PowerLEDs as they are more compact and also use Sony batteries.

You can find them on eBay under $60 if you buy without a battery. My issue with the multilight units was the foot was very weak so I used to replace it with a ball head ..I see your ones have done that so they are now perfect.

Just a hint ..on camera lock your gain at 21db and then use the light to fill so you get zebras on anything white and then back off slightly. That way the shadows remain solid and your highlights don't get over exposed and there is no video noise either!

Awesome, Great tip Chris. I really never knew how to use zebra. So now I know to back the light off a bit when zebra is present.

Set your zebras and 90% and when using the light only back off if the zebras are prominent on the bride's dress or something pure white ... they won't show up on darker fabric anyway so you might have to swing the camera over initially and use the bride as your test case!

Two things on my cameras are always permanently on : zebras and focus peaking ... remember you can also allocate most functions to the 6 buttons on the side of the camera. I leave No 6 as "preview last clip" but have my top row allocated to zebras, peaking and then I have the middle top button allocated so I can lift the EV up 1.5 stops if I suddenly need to shoot a backlit scenario which brides always seem to want.
