These only test stills, but adapter works fine on VG10 also.

many thanks for posting, Charlie. Very interesting. I was thinking of maybe experimenting with the most modest of the lensbaby's - I love the tilt shift look and reckon that squeeze focus could create some really dynamic pulls.

I've played around a bit with my lensbaby on a Kipon adapter on both the Nex and the VG10, and have been somewhat surprised that I enjoy using it more for video than I have for stills photography.

It's always been enjoyable for stills work, but of course the application is limited...With video, it sets a tone that is hard to describe; I shot a couple of brief interviews with it, more as a test than anything, and found it quite pleasing.

I think I need to step outside the box a bit, and use it for more diverse types of shooting. It's a neat little lens.

Many thanks for that, Wayne. Were you using the plastic or glass lens? and do you have any of the footage up online?

Well, I had a gig today for a magazine ad. Stills

Assignment: Shoot dance instructor, blur students, show motion, landscape orientation:

Tools: Nex-5, Kipon tilt adaptor, Nikon 50mm f1.4 AIS

These are straight out of the camera, no PP.

There was a very recent Forntline Documentary about violence in Haiti since the earthquake, which had extensive use of tilt lens technique, both in interviews and large landscape shots.

here it is:

I am using the glass version. I don't have the interviews I shot with it online yet ( they are part of an awards video to be presented Feb. 18) but as soon as the awards have taken place, it'll be up.

I still haven't come up with an adequate description of the "look" it gives to video... light it one way and it's quite etherial, same scene, same person, move the lighting two feet closer or further away from the subject and the feel is completely different...

I was playing around a bit yesterday with shifting focal point during active shooting...of course you need an alternate audio source because the noise the Lensbaby makes when you're manipulating it is quite awful, but I can see that there would be circumstances where doing that (manipulating the focal point) during a shot could have very dramatic results.

All of my experiementing has been indoors due to the awful weather; I would really like to get outdoors and try some shots that way as well. I think the Lensbaby is actually going to see some increased use this summer...
