New Sony Nex VG20 recieved
 

I received the VG 20 today, after ordering from Sony on Monday. Wow, Sony, that was fast. (Shipped out of Carson California.)

Good on you, I eagerly await your comments, Chris and perhaps some footage right off the cam in due course, much appreciated. Yesterday my NEX 5n arrived (same sensor and lenses we are led to believe) and given the blazing summer sun down here right now I realize I should have included ND filters. Are you thinking ND filters for the VG 20?

I have a 67 variable ND coming. Won't be top of the line, but I have been shooting similar one on my 5D.

As to bit rate, the question has arisen before. It shoots 24 mbs in 24p and 60i, 28mbs in 60p. You can go lower on each frame rate, but those are maximum bit rates.

I have been doing some rough testing already, and comparing to my Canon T2i, at this point. in a somewhat darkened room. At 30db, the VG20 seems about a stop faster than T2i at 3200iso. Comparing noise, though, I think Sony may be a bit noiser in the higher ranges, but that is no more than gut feeling at this point. Still learning how to adjust setting.

Is you new VG 20 made in Thailand or Japan.

I'm just wondering because of status of the Sony factory in Thailand.

Im thinking of cancelling my B&H Pre-order and ordering from Sony.
BH photo still has no word as to when they will have stock.

Good luck with the VG20 and keep us informed.
