For NX5U what Sd Cards? What filters? What else?

I'm about to buy an NX5U with the Flash Drive and I want to also get SD cards & a minimum set of filters... without further breaking the bank.

Please advise me on...
1 - What SD cards should I get ? (Brand, Class, etc)
2 - What minimum filters should I get?
3 - What else should I get for the cam from the get-go?

Sources & prices would also be helpful.

Since I'm spending so much for the cam I am trying to not go overboard right now on extra's but want to get the minimum extra stuff to use the cam both in doors in a small studio, in doors on location, and outdoors.

Thanks for any comments.

Cameras with tiny 1"/3 chips should stay well clear of filters in my view. But if you must, then a polarisor is good because it's so difficult to replicate in post.

Kingston 16gb class 6 are the deal of the moment, and work flawlessly.

I couldn't live without my wideangle converter, LANC zoom controller, LED light and some NPF batteries.

In regards to the SD cards, the Sony manual says they must be at minimum class 4. Many users have recommended class 6 or class 10.

Here is one by Hoodman:

To others out there - do you have experience w/ Hoodman? Are they more reliable than Sandisk or Kingston?

I am using Panasonic SDHC class 10 16 GB card along with sony memory stick pro-hg duo without problems.

I've done several shoots with two Kingston (Class 4) 32GB cards. Reasonably priced and they work. Only reason to pay extra for Class 6 or 10 is to copy to your notebook faster.

...I actually paid a little less at Frys. (abt $60 iirc)

I do multi-day shoots and don't always have access to facilities during the day, so I loaded up on batteries: 2 of the big ones work with room to spare on a full day of shooting constantly.

Since I also shoot a lot of motorsports (inc. the US Rally Series), I always install a clear UV filter to protect the lens. Flying rocks are a regular hazard for me and my gear. I just got a Quantaray slimline unit at my local camera shop.

I wanted to re-visit this thread and ask if 64GB SD cards will work with the NX5U?

Thanks,

Heath

Heath, et al;

If you're going that big, why not get the FMU-128 'Flash Memory Unit'? That way you don't have to worry about losing the SDHC cards, or damaging them, etc. I use mine for a 'hot back-up' when using the Atomos Samurai as my primary capture device.

Best regards,

J.

Way out of my budget, unfortunately. Plus I'm going to buy smaller cards and after I've captured and edited, I'll hand over the card to my client.

Heath...yes, that is a good work-flow tool, being able to hand the SDHC card to the client.

Back it up, hand over the card. My buddy does that, and it's a great idea.
