shouldermount/brace for nxcam?

Hey Guys

I have been using handheld for alot of interview shots but now require a tiny bit more stabilisation.

I don't want a contraption with a million handles... I was thinking more along the lines of like a Habbycam
where I can still use my hand on the zoom button instead of using the solo handle.

What are you guys currently using? Most of my work isn't on sticks

I had a Habbycam (still have it around here somewhere I think) and the main problem with it is it becomes very front heavy which really wore me out. Now I did have a PD150 with a WA lens attachment on it but even without the WA it was front heavy which was my main reason for switching to a DV Multirig. Yep it has more handles but the main thing is the spring arm which really allows me to hold the cam steady for long periods of time. AAMOF, I still have my DVRig which is used for full sized cameras and that was one of the best buys I ever made. Anyway, just my experience with the Habbycam brace. Maybe there's a way to make the spring rod from the multirig work with it. Hmmm, excuse me but I gotta go into my workshop. ;-)

Hey Matt, I use Gorillapod Focus as a body-pod with Z5U and it has proven itself as a great versatile support tool. Check it out: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/586957-REG/Joby_GP8_01EN_Gorillapod_Focus_Flexible.html

habbycam

I use a habbycam shoulder mount with my NX5u, I added a bit of weight to the rear of the shoulder rest using existing screw holes. The habbycam folks might want to consider offering counterweights as an option.

It will cost you about 170 but is SO worth it. I could hold the camera steady all day.

Re: shouldermount/brace for nxcam?

I use this shoulder mount that I picked up on ebay a year ago for $25 (The ikan version). It must have gained popularity cuz it is now on B&H for $90. There is a "Poloroid" version at B&H for $39 or ebay $35 (looks to be the exact same thing). Yes it's plastic but it's good quality plastic, it's light weight and comfortable. I use it for the NX5U and it's perfect for on-the-move shoulder shots. I do not use the straps at all, although I'll admit it is more stable with the straps, they are just uncomfortable and quite dorky looking. See the links below and an action shot of me using it with the NX5U.
