hey can anyone help me out. does the SONY HXR-NX5 have a timelapse feature and where abouts do i find it.

If by timelapse you mean an extreme undercranking (i.e. accelerated motion filming), then the answer to your question is no, the NX5 has no such feature.

However, the camera is capable for some sort of overcranking (i.e. slow motion effect): it can record fast actions using the SMOOTH SLOW REC function (with the unchanging shutter speed 1/215 sec).

I suspect you're referring to "interval recording." Unfortunately no, not there. Was on prior HDV models, but I suspect Sony felt the NX5 was beginning to intrude a bit on the EX1 and they decided to backpedal slightly in a few areas. Yep, too bad.

....and anyway, the NX5 simply doesn't need it. The camera's got to be stationary anyway, so just run it in real time. Have two 32 gigs on board and on the timeline later play with the speeds to suit. If you've shot it timelapse up front, you're pretty much stuck with that speed.

I 2nd that Tom! Even better yet attach the 128gb Harddrive like i did and get 11 hours of continuous HD Timelapse... "Interval Recording What?" lol As Tom said u have more control in post over the speed and duration.

After discovering the interval record on my vx1000 was thoroughly useless, I used this method quite successfully.

That was the in slang in the US in the 60's.

"Sick" is also a very good thing in current youth and extreme sport culture here in the US.
