Size of this camera
 

It's one thing reading the specs, it's another seeing this camera in the flesh. It is _tiny_.

Here's a couple of pics of a certain 6-foot tall, decidedly un-glamorous Irishman with the camera in his hand. It would be even smaller if I took the Vinten plate off the bottom!

Thanks for the photos. I noticed that you have your left hand holding the bottom front of the camera. I'm assuming that's you adjusting the focus ring. Do you find that adjusting the focus in that fashion is essential to maintaining the camera's balance/stability when handheld? I mean, do the camera's ergonomics and weight distribution require such handling?

I'm personally used to adjusting the focus from a 9 o'clock position, would that negatively affect my shots if I were to use the NX70?

Adam, I use the 9 o'clock position too! I received my Sony NX70 yesterday and the balancing and adjusting from the 9 o'clock position works just fine! Havn't had a chance to take test footage just yet, but out of the box, it has a very good quality feel. Mike, fantastic updates so far!

Great! Thanks for the shots of how it looks in hand.

It really gives a great impression of the size.. and it's much more inconspicuous than the NX5, which is a good thing!

Wow... I hadn't even thought of how I handled it, that's just the way I always do. It's like asking me to explain how to walk, or breathe or something!

I would hold the cam as per the photo if it's a reasonably static shot, or if I'm using autofocus. I can make slight adjustments of focus from beneath if needs be. I'm not blessed with the world's steadiest hands, so this stance works best for me. The viewfinder is really good, so it is possible to use that as a third point of stability.

I also sometimes hold it a "9 o'clock" as well, sometimes with a finger or two on the lens hood, if I need to do more active focusing.

These positions work for me; everyone is different, you could probably just hold this camera however you want. The active steadyshot is pretty darn good. Combined with the super-wide lens, this helps a lot.
