Is anyone shooting SD with their NX5?

What preset do you edit with?

I'm probably missing something but I don't see a preset that matches what the NX5 outputs... It's not an avi.

Standard definition on the NX5U is MPEG2 just like a DVD at max DVD data rate.

Just import the footage and then drag it down to the "new item" icon and Premiere will create a sequence that best matches the footage.

Is the SD footage of the NX5 16:9 aspect ratio?

Yes. 16x9 You can set guide frames for 4x3 and others.

Before i got my FS100 and was still shooting with my PD170, I would shoot HD to the cards and SD to the FMU 4:3. Worked great while I was making the transition to HD.
