maybe fyi: sony releasing 50mm/f1.8 prime
maybe fyi: sony releasing 50mm/f1.8 prime
i am putting together a wish list for my "hopefully" very soon fs100 purchase. on the b&h site there is: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/818649-REG/Sony_SEL50F18_50mm_f_1_8_Telephoto_Lens.html so it seems that sony will be releasing in the very near future a 50mm/f1.8 prime with stabilization and af/mf. glad to see sony offering affordable glass to support the e-mount. ymmv be well rob smalltalk productions |

50mm is a nice size lens. I already have the Sony Alpha mount 50mm. Not sure if I need another, unless it clrealy makes a better image.

There's a typo on the B&H Overview tab saying that minimum focus distance is 15.3'
The Specs page has it right at 15.3" |

If you are using a prime lens without autofocus then a better deal and better lens may be vintage lenses. I have several including a Pentax Takumar 1.7 50mm that I really love. I think it cost me about $85.

I appreciate the thought especially since I have several nice Pentax primes. By the way, what adapter do you use with your Pentax K/M42 mount and FS100? Be well. Rob Smalltalk Productions |

Right now I am only using a DSLR with the Pentax lens but will most likely be getting the FS100 within a short time (I have three Sony video cameras and use the DSLR for b-roll) I will research the adapter but barring any issues it will probably be an inexpensive adapter. I use the $20 adapter on the DSLR and they have been fine.
Mostly likely I will be getting the kit lens with the FS100 but will use the Pentax and Nikon primes I own a lot. |
