Sony a-mount to Sony e-mount

If I buy a couple of a-mount lenses, and an a-mount to e-mount adapter... do I get auto-focus/auto-iris?

This camera raises about as many questions as it answers!

Apparently in the new firmware release due January you do?

Re: Sony a-mount to Sony e-mount

I think you will need the new LA-EA2 Sony adapter ($399) plus the firmware upgrade in January to get more out of the A mount lenses. But I think I read somewhere that it works with MOST A-mount lenses, I don't know what the restriction is, which is a question I have.

The specs on the adapter says you get autofocus for video but not autoexposure:(quoting the B&H website)

"Special Notes from Sony
1. AF not available with STF lenses and teleconverters.
2. Teleconverter lenses and Minolta Xi lenses are not compatible.
3. Aperture setting for video capture is fixed at the maximum aperture of the lens or f/3.5, whichever is lower (AF-C). "

Re: Sony a-mount to Sony e-mount

I have the A-mount adapter and none of my A-mount lenses can do autofocus. If you try, the camera displays a warning stating that autofocus isn't compatible with the lens.

So... if you had an f/2.8 lens... the best you could do is f/3.5, yes?
