Dramatic Difference
I've been giving the FS100 a evaluation this weekend... Playing AVCHD video back on my monitor through the camera's HDMI, I was bowled over by how good it looked in low light, even with the kit lens.
But once I ingested it into FC 7, and looked at it on both the computer display and on the same monitor, everything looked much darker and less impressive. Any idea what I'm dealing with???? |
Re: Dramatic Difference
my guess is a 709 Input LUT applied by FCP, i'm not sure how to get around it's color managment tho, i don't use FCP
I have choices in my system of input LUT's, with the FS i find LIN to be the best choice. d |
Re: Dramatic Difference
Gamma issues have been abundant with FCP and those can appear on import. How are you importing? Also check that FCP is not deinterlacing the images by making sure the fields are set to none in the files and also in the sequence.

Re: Dramatic Difference
I guess I didn't know FCP was tweaking my files when importing, what can you do to prevent this?

Re: Dramatic Difference
Try PP CS5.5. It works like a charm - no transcoding, no loss of quality, no gamma shifts, etc.
You can download a free 30 day trial. |
Re: Dramatic Difference
Definitely the gamma issue in FCP7. I was very happy to find FCPX doesn't have this issue.

Re: Dramatic Difference
Or try FCPX which works very well with our FS100, also a 30 day trial available
