PP or knee setting to minimise highlight issues?

Hi there.

Im using the FS100 with a sal1650 lens and a vari-ND.

In in my first few shoots with the FS100, Im realising that its much easier to blow highlights with this thing than other cameras Im used to using. Of course this is a learning curve for me and something I need to work on.

I'd like to know what PP settings (one of the recipe's already around maybe?) and/ or knee settings other users have their camera set at which may help manage highlights and reduce the camera's sensitivity to them a little?

Thanks

Jamie

I did. I've since adjusted one of them (not sure which one) to try and control highlights better.

Which one of your do you suggest for external shooting?

Cheers

i also have the same problem
I try the 4 of these pp too
can anyone tell which parameter to adjust for highlight, it's so blow compare to 5D if there is light behind the object.

What editing system are you using and how are you bringing the files into the system?

If you are using a system that utilizes QuickTime to bring in the AVCHD video you may be suffering from an issue with QT and with how it handles video over 100% (superwhites).

Can you give some additional info about one of you problem setups?

+1 for the fact that your highlights are probably okay in-camera, just need to be pulled down in post.

Check your raw footage in your NLE's WFM - you'll need to adjust any superwhites down to 100% white or they'll get clipped on output.

As soon as you get involved in SuperWhites, every shot needs some adjustment. CineGammas include 'special case' versions that won't use Super Whites so the footage can go 'straight to air', but if you're trying to eke out the last drops of performance in this price class of camera, the cost is a little work in post.
