Did you consider a GL2 also?
 

I am in a quandry. Part of me wants a DVX100. Part of me says the lack of focus & gain in progressive modes, the minmal zoom, lack of 16:9 support, the audio sych issues...just too much. In a year the DVX110 will probably have addressed most of those issues and new PD150 (175?), VX3000, XL2 systems, GL3? will have raised the bar.

That said, I am between the PDX10 and the GL2. Overall, I like the GL2. Nice lens, 20x optical zoom, good image control, frame mode for progressive like video. BUT, awkward XLR solutions (runnng an ME66 on camera and Sennheiser Evolution with Tram TR-50 or Electrovoice wireless), no real 16:9, and frame mode's loss of resolution leaves something on the table.

The PDX10 has XLRs with phantom power and additional cut controls, a megapixel CCD with as real 16:9 support, that great touch focus/meter, and a very convienient size. It gives up some quick access to external controls. has no progressive mode, the smallest CCDs, and a lens that demands a wide angle adapter.

Now to cost. The lowest price for the PDX10 is $1700. For the GL1 $1975 + $180 for the Beachtek - $2155. The DVX10 is $2800(yes, I found it for $2800). A DVC80 is $2400,

Has anyone else here had the same dilemma and chosen the PDX10. If so, could you tell me you reasons?

I went through all of this in March, and the PDX-10 was a compromise choice..For the money it is the best thing in that price range, hands down..Just having the true 16:9 and the pro audio was enough for me.. the way i see it if i need to shoot something 24p i will rent a camera or cameraman for the day..

Get the PDX10.. Best bang for your buck and features in that price range..

GL2 = XV2 (says so on the Canon website, if I got the XV2 model number right)
