Diffrence between MiniDV and DVCam tape

I don't have a PD-150 yet but it says it will do DVCam. Is that a diffrent type of tape? Can you record longer on a DVCAM tape or is the quality better?

Thanks!

Different package and different tape.

The length of the recording, for any specific length of tape is different between DV and DVCam. You get 1/3 less record time if you have the PD150 in DVCam mode.

There is no difference in image quality. DVCam, because it has a wider record width, is said to be more reliable. In practical terms that has little meaning when you are using a NLE system.

Biggest difference is the price. If you really want to pay more, buy the DVCam tape. Otherwise I doubt that you will notice a difference.
