Sony VX2000/Canon WD58 Lens Question

Hello all,

Question I have is :

Is it ok to put a screw-on filter between the camera and the Wide Angle lens?

Thank you,

Steve

That's not wise. It places the adaptor further away from the lens. Perhaps try it first, and see if you get distortion and/or vignetting.

Some wide angle adaptors come with filter threads up front. But you usually still get vignetting. A "mat box" is one solution.

Also, by sandwiching the filter, there is a lot more stress on those threads from the weight of the lens.

Also, pay attention to the orientation of the WA-58H lens hood. Once, I had rotated the hood and caused a blackened triangle in the upper left hand corner of my footage.

I shot a boat cruise with a circular polarizer behind the WD58. Having earlier learned about the hood's orientation issue I had constantly to make sure I was zoomed enough to get past it, given that the hood was rotating along with the polarizer! But I do love the look of the result, in bright sunshine on endless water. Having said that I'd love a matte box but without bionic arms my hand-held days would be over. This (http://www.contentshop.tv/newcam.htm) is what I'm lugging around as it is.
