[PD150] - MIC NR Function
beeign a newbie with my PD150 I was a bit alarmed with a background "humm" that my footage was getting, I tought it might be the infamous "hiss" so I turned manual audio off, but the problem persisted, so I found the "MIC NR" function, turned it ON .. and presto .. problem was gone.
now I am curious .. why would you ever want that OFF ? .. is there a reason for it ? cheers |
When you use the mic off-camera, the audio sounds better IMO if the NR is set to OFF.
|
NR rejects camera noise. Manual suggests turning it off when using microphones that are not attached to the camera. I never turn it on as it can leave a ringing sound at the end of each word in speech.

Would a better Mic like the M66 get less noise from the cam ?, if I leave it off I get an humberable humming noise in the background, not "loud" but continuous. (using the default mic that come with the pd150) |
The 66 will pick up even more.
The plain truth is you shouldn't be recording audio with an on-camera microphone unless there just is not other way, i.e., you are running and gunning by yourself. The best solution is to get the microphone up and away from the camera on an extended mount. Like a shock mount on top of the handle. |
very true ..
right now it's for solo operations, so it will have to be on the camera, but it's good to learn what to do when it's not :) thanks for the info :) |
