new vx2000 owner

Hi all, just thought i would introduce myself as a new vx owner, and may i say i am extremely happy with my choice! I used both the xl1-s and the pd-150 before making my choice and in the end chose the vx. I wanted the pd but couldnt justify the extra $$ for dvcam and the audio differences......

I guess special thanks goes to this forum for being an exellent source of research info, the struggle in my head as to which camera to buy has ended.....i have been "getting to know" my camera all night!

Thanks, Richard. Your post reminded me of the day just over a year ago when my wife called me at work to say that UPS had just delivered my VX2000. You have much to look forward to as you unravel its mysteries. If you haven't found it yet, the BBC has a site with a couple of very useful downloads (pdf) on using the camera, which include many tips not in the "manual".

Enjoy.

Congrats on your purchase. My goodie box arrived last week and I love my VX2000. Can't wait home to get home and play some more. By the way, the best accessory I purchased was the Optek wide angle lens. Great glass and is threaded to handle filters on the front. Love it.

New VX2000

I too am a new VX2000 owner and I have a question for you veteran users. I recently did a shoot and noticed that my VX had trouble adjusting the light exposure. It was an indoor shoot and every time I zoomed in, the camera went black! As I slowly panned out it would eventually refocus into a crystal clear shot. I am assuming that such an awesome camera couldn't possibly have such a flaw so, what am I doing wrong? Is there some auto exposure button that I need to push?
