Series of thin, clear horizontal lines on Premiere playback

I don't think this is 'flicker' from interlacing, but maybe I'm wrong. If I record regular interlaced DV on my vx2000 and then capture on Premiere 6.1, when I play back the timeline I see about 6-10 evenly spaced horizontal "lines" (they look to be maybe a couple of pixels tall) spanning the entire width of the screen.

They show up particularly in footage where I am using the full optical zoom length of the lens. When I move the camera significantly at this focal length, the playback after capture also seems to split and jagger the screen somewhat along the same rough lines. Deinterlacing or flicker control doesn't seem to help in the timeline review.

Finally, when I compress and export to a movie, the effect seems to diminish and, depending on the amount of compression, disappear.

Is this a result of the processing within premiere during timeline playback (some sort of artifact of a draft mode)? Is this (I sure hope not) something wrong with the camera? What's the link to the zoom? Thanks, love the forum here.
